A cheerful heart is good medicine for the soul.  Proverbs 17:22

God really does want us to enjoy our lives.

Laughter and play are an essential part of that abundant life component.

Think back to when you were a child. What made you giddy? What made you frolic in the field?

I grew up in a very small town in Iowa. You know the one where everybody knows everybody, and the whole town is your playground. One of my favorite things to do was to ride my blue Schwinn bike with chrome wheels as fast as I could around town. I found great pleasure in riding fast on my bike and having the wind blow through my hair. (This was of course before required bike helmets)

It was simple pure unadulterated joy.

And you know what? I still find joy in riding my pink Schwinn bike with accessorized wicker basket around my neighborhood. I’m sure it is not the speed of my youth; but it is certainly as pleasurable with the wind blowing through my hair and a song in my heart.

Ride on my child!

Dear Father of the Universe,

Thank you for the simple joys of life.

May I never grow weary of a pure breeze.
